Do you know a good herbal supplement as replacement for hormone pills in post-menopausal women?
Cecilia asked:
My mother had a hysterectomy several years ago and is on hormone replacement therapy. Unfortunately, she does not take them daily as she is afraid of the causal link between the medication and breast cancer. She’s not a hypochondriac, but breast cancer is alarmingly common in our family; her mother, maternal aunt and one of her sisters were survivors.
Anyway, her mood is negatively affected when she doesn’t take the hormones. She’s normally a very warm, friendly and cheerful person. But without them, she is irritable and tired. Being irritable and hurting someone’s feelings then makes her depressed! I would never want her to take the hormone pills if they could make her sick, but her quality of life is poor without them!
Now to my question — I’ve heard good things about herbal supplements. Can anyone recommend a specific brand?
Thank you!

You should check with a Chinese Herbalist. There is a Chinese herb called Tang Kei (pronounced Don Ky) which is called ‘the Queen of Herbs’ which can be very helpful for womens problems. It has a balancing effect on femal hormones
A natural progesterone creme works wonders for me. I am 38 and still have my period but it helps control the cramps and the definate mood swings. I believe it is calle Femme Creme, I’m not at home, but I buy it at the organic store not GNC or vitamin shoppe. They also have a hormone balancing vitamin that can work with the progesterone creme. Black cohosh is the big additive in womens vitamins now a days, wild yam, horney goat weed, vitamin E, ect. They all work together. I believe the creme will be best because it works transdermal. Give your mom a hug for us and tell her not to worry. She will be fine.
i’ve heard of Dong Quai? it is also a chinese herbal supplement… you could look into it
