Hormone Therapy (MtF)?

xxtscd2007 asked:

Okay, I’m about to be 20, and I want to take the next step in my transistion. I want to be put on Hormones (estrogen etc.) to advance my physical features and become the woman I was meant to be. How do I begin this, where must one go because being prescribed? Is there any online sites that I can purchase pills from directly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Right now I’m kinda at a dead-end in the road, and need to find a way around it.

    Melanie, where you from?
Also you don’t want to purchase any pills over the internet, it could be bad news for you.
Have you been in touch with a doctor to help you through the transition? If you havn’t let me know where your from and i can try and help you find a doctor that specializes in MtoF transitions.

You will find all the information you need, as well as a very kind and caring community of people- some of whom are going through what you are right now… some who have already completed their transitions successfully… all of whom are very nice, and very supportive… go to the site I’ve linked below.

I think you would be better talking about it with a doctor then to purchase them over the internet.

What you need is an endocrinologist. That way you will be prescribed the correct doses of the several drugs you need to take. Hormones can be dangerous on their own and have significant side effects if the dose is not right for you. You will also want to get a prescription for spirolactone to reduce your testosterone and stop producing sperm.
The estrogen and progestin will soften your features and may even help to create small breasts, depending on your genetic makeup. But unless you deal with your testosterone you will continue to grow course facial and body hair.
If you want to know what you are going to have to take and how it will affect your body image, there are several sites on the web with information. Just type in MtF transition on the search engine.
And to echo the other answers you get, do not even consider getting hormones on line because you do not know what you are getting or how strong they are. If you are ready to make this step, get yourself a trans positive doctor and psychologist or psychiatrist because it’s a long road and you’ll need that support.

    Sweetie…I know this one.
FIRST! Get a qualified Gender Therapist, not some whack job who will try and “cure” you.It really helps and it helps you get ahead later.
Then, see a doctor, get the blood tests, and do it right. I took hormones on my own for a few years, and I’m still here, but the stress is not worth it.
I took Internet estrogen, but I always had doubts about it. Doctors have loosened up about this a lot and prices are coming down for exams; the hormone therapy itself is relatively cheap.
At twenty, you are liable to transform very nicely, but don’t expect miracles: if your mom is a “B’ cup you may only get to “A”. Great for your skin and hair though!

Please, please, DON’T take hormones without medical supervision.
I know it’s possible to buy oestrogen (and testosterone) online, or by mail order, but it’s a VERY BAD idea; These drugs are very dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, which is why they’re supposed to be prescription only.
I know, or rather knew, two transwomen who have DIED as a direct result of taking oestrogen unsupervised.
For your own safety, see your doctor, get a referral to a gender specialist or an endocrinologist; get a legal prescription, and have regular blood tests and health checks.

You’re best going the legitimate route. It’s much, much safer than buying the stuff online from overseas. First, see s therapist to get the approval letter and then talk to a doctor to run your blood work to check for any complications that could be fatal. Once you’ve jumped through the hoops you can get on the meds.
