Would low estrogen cause this in a woman?
Dragon Queen asked:
You’re a woman. You don’t feel like doing anything but sit around, even sitting around you get tired of. You are on hormone therapy(you have normal testosterone and petuitary gland) because your body can’t produce estrogen(very low dose of it). Can low estrogen be the cause of laziness?

Yes hormonal imbalances of any kind can cause lack on energy.
Mmmmm. Yep. Have you had your thyroid checked? That’ll do it too. Natural estrogen is found in soy milk… See an endocrinologist.
Not getting enough exercise can cause general laziness, too. Which is ironic because the last thing you want to do when you are feeling lazy is exercise! LOL
I don’t know if low estrogen would be the cause of tiredness, but I know where you can find out.

I wouldn’t call it laziness, but I do know that low estrogen levels in premenopausal women can cause fatigue. I think that taking something like Black Cohosh may help. It has been used successfully to control menopausal symptoms in a high percentage of women. It may need to be taken for several weeks before benefits are noticed. It is often found sold as an extracted form called RemeFemin, available from health food stores. The standard dose of 40mg (extract) per day is sufficient to treat menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and seems not to be dose-dependent. This could help with her low estrogen.
Yes, it can, but not always.
A low functioning thyroid can do it too. Have it checked.
