hormone therapy for bigger breasts?

blueberrybalance asked:

Explain this to me- I’ve had two kids and my breasts have gotten smaller after each pregnancy. Then this temp guy starts working in our warehouse and I do a double take because he’s got these huge breasts! Totally a guy otherwise, big, tall, burly etc. So I first I think “OK, man boobs”. Then I notice he’s wearing a bra. So I go into the office and I’m like what’s with the dude with the boobs? And my co-workers tell me he’s a transgender. So if he’s undergoing some therapy to make him a woman, how did he all of a sudden grow some huge boobs? And if that’s all it takes, some hormones, how come we flat chested ladies can’t get some (LOL)? The question is in fun, I’m not about to take hormones, but thought this is kind of unjust!!!

What blood tests are needed to check levels of hormones in women? ?

sstacinator asked:

I watched Oprah’s show about hormones and symptoms if a persons is low, I have those symptoms and more. I am bitchy, having migraines monthly, tired, mean, moody, can’t get to sleep,no sex drive, heavy periods, cramps,PMS BIG TIME,not caring how I look.

On the show the Dr. had a patient with pretty much all of the same symptoms that I have and so they checked certain hormone levels with a simple blood test and hers was low so they put her on hormone therapy.

I emailed my Dr. at Kaiser and she said to me lets just put you on Prozac or Zoloft. Unreal! She is and has been aware of my issues for a long time now and so she sent me to the Kaiser OB/GYN and he put me on birth control pills, first off this pissed my husband off cause he had a vasectomy and second I have been on them months and there is NO CHANGE, except weigh gain and I am risking getting breast cancer and other diseases linked to birth control pills. Instead testing me for what the problem is she they just put me on the cheapest treatment and wants it to say that way even though it doesn’t help. I need help to find out what tests that the Dr. on Oprah’s show said we needed to be tested for, please help and thank you!

Has anyone heard announcement about the dramatic decrease (7%) in breast cancer since hormone replacement?

PajamaMama asked:

therapy was shown to cause cancer several years ago? At that time, women were discouraged from taking it during menopause because there were fears of cancer. Since then, breast cancer cases have decreased by 7%. What are your thoughts about this? Are the hormones in hormone replacement therapy medications the same as those in birth control pills?
There is some information about it in case you hadn’t heard the announcement. I’m insterested in your thoughts and future actions in response to this. And, I want to know if birth control pills have the same hormones in them that hormone replacement therapy drugs do.
http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/1025191125.html
Also, why do you think we try to classify menopause as an illness to be cured? Isn’t it a normal process that women’s bodies go through in their natural development?
But it is my understanding that hormone replacement therapies all contain estrogen-progestin combinations. It is also my understanding that birth control pills contain the same hormones. Why would the effects of birth control pills be any different than hormone replacement therapy, which has now been proved to cause cancer?
See this link for wikipedia info on birth control pills

Also, since hormone replacement therapy is used on women who are going through menopause, which is caused by gradual decreases in the naturally occuring female hormones estrogen and progestin, what do you think the effects of those hormones would be on women of childbearing age who already have normal levels of those hormones in their bodies?

Do women have a problem with this?

jenl19 asked:

I am a guy that is transitioning into a girl. I have to start living full-time so I can begin hormone therapy. I am not 100% passable yet, but I feel I’m close. I am still having trouble with my voice and I have some masculine facial features (that I will correct with plastic surgery soon.) Does it bother women to see someone like me using women’s restrooms or shopping and trying on clothes in women’s boutiques? Just curious.
It depends on the type of transgender person. Most crossdressers are straight. I’m a transsexual, I am a woman trapped in a man’s body. I like men. I consider myself a straight woman.

Would low estrogen cause this in a woman?

Dragon Queen asked:

You’re a woman. You don’t feel like doing anything but sit around, even sitting around you get tired of. You are on hormone therapy(you have normal testosterone and petuitary gland) because your body can’t produce estrogen(very low dose of it). Can low estrogen be the cause of laziness?

Is it a must to take Hormone Replacement Therapy, or does a woman have the option of refusing to do so?

serialmom12 asked:

I’m talking about taking pills or a patch for menopause symptoms.
A friend of mine took Premarin which helped her, but it ended up causing a huge fibroid because she was on it for too long.
My family history risk of cancer is much higher than the normal womans, so I want to avoid taking hormones (should I ever need to,) at all costs. I’d much prefer to do things the natural way w/o any drugs.

The uterus is found to be the normal size of 6.5×3.5 cm. While, the endometrium was seen heterogeneous, abnormal in echogenicty and was thickened to 7mm. There are some hyper attenuated focus found centrally and some free fluid within the endometrium, and in the cul-de-sack. The andexa seemed to be grossly normal. She is not on hormone replacment therapy. This exam is a follow-up from previous, and since then, the focus found within the endometrium have enlarged.
