Do you know a good herbal supplement as replacement for hormone pills in post-menopausal women?

Cecilia asked:

My mother had a hysterectomy several years ago and is on hormone replacement therapy. Unfortunately, she does not take them daily as she is afraid of the causal link between the medication and breast cancer. She’s not a hypochondriac, but breast cancer is alarmingly common in our family; her mother, maternal aunt and one of her sisters were survivors.
Anyway, her mood is negatively affected when she doesn’t take the hormones. She’s normally a very warm, friendly and cheerful person. But without them, she is irritable and tired. Being irritable and hurting someone’s feelings then makes her depressed! I would never want her to take the hormone pills if they could make her sick, but her quality of life is poor without them!
Now to my question — I’ve heard good things about herbal supplements. Can anyone recommend a specific brand?
Thank you!

Why are my emotions so out of control?

John D asked:

I am a male to female transsexual just starting hormone therapy. My emotions have really escalated since I started treatment and I now find that I cry at the silliest of things, or laugh hysterically at things that may not be that funny. I am loving the physical changes, but I did not expect to be on such a hormonal roller coaster ride. Do women experience this on a regular basis, or will things level off?

How do women feel about this?

Justin B asked:

I am a transgender female. I have recently come out to my parents and am now living full-time. I am passable for the most part, except for my voice, which I’m working on. I am in therapy and will soon begin hormone therapy. I am just curious to know how women feel about someone like me? Does it make you uncomfortable to be around a woman like me in the restrooms and changing rooms and so on? Please be honest, I can take it. Thanks in advance.
The name is a typo. It should have been Justine.

About Mental or whatever Therapy before Hormone Therapy?

wuzzuh? asked:

Ok, I guess that I’m stuck with being a guy with testosterone flowing around for 3 more months at the least (and i pray that is the max)

However, I was wondering…

1) If I could take Anti-Androgens during this time (least I could do)

2) How to find a gender therapist in the Orange County region? (my psychologist is just a clueless dude)

3) What I am required to do during this time?
will I have to dress as a girl 24/7 during this time, do girl stuff etc?

Because I already do dress as a girl and do female activities, but in a limited fashion as to not bring attention from others.

4) I’m 17 and a Month old, 5′ 7″, and 140 lb. My greatest fear is that in these 3 months, i could suddenly drastically change and no longer seem viable as a woman.

Would that happen? (and is my height too tall?)

5) How can I ensure the therapist I go to is legit, would help me, knows what he’s doing? I would ask him his degree, but he could lie about that ><

Federal Appeals Court: Transsexuals Have No Civil Rights?

PennyAnn asked:

“(Denver, Colorado) A federal appeals court has upheld a lower court ruling that found transsexuals are not covered by federal discrimination laws.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Krystal Etsitty had no legal recourse in fighting her firing by the Utah Transit Authority in 2005.

The court, which sits in Denver, found that the trial judge was correct in finding that the transit authority feared it could be sued by people born biologically female if it were discovered Etsitty still had male genitals.

At the time of her firing Etsitty was transitioning from male to female.

She was undergoing hormone therapy, wearing women’s clothing and presenting herself as female. ”

For Women: Does anyone use a diaphram?

clickynicki asked:

I’m nursing and don’t want to use any hormone therapy for birth control. I’ve heard of some that are supposedly safe, but I’m set on not useing any hormones untile my baby stops nursing. I want to know what happens when you go to your gynacologist about getting a diaphram. I heard they have to fit you, is that true, and what do they do? Are they a hassle to use? Are they safe? Are they a hassle? Are they prescription?
